Trail version of UFT and ALM run permanently in VMware for learning purpose:
Step 1: Download UFT and ALM from HP website. First download the HP download manager. Next download the UFT and ALM latest versions. Now download very fast with the help of hp download manager.
Step 2: Download VMware with key for run permanently on OS.
Step 3: Download MS Office 2007 it is supported to UFT.
Step 4: Download Oracle for ALM / SQL Server
How to Install UFT and ALM:
1. Install the VMware 10.0.1 or above?
2. In the VMware Install the Windows Server 2008 R2 X64 OS (verify the UFT doc for supported OS)
Why install server 2008 is ALM supported OS and also we install ALM 11.5 server version.
2. Install the MS Office for work with Excel.
3. If u required Google chrome, Fire fox browsers install here. IE browser by default will be there.
3. Install the UFT.
4. Install Oracle or SQL Server. Data base is required to work with ALM. Create User & Password.
5. Now Install the ALM connects to that user.
6. Take the snapshot. (IMP)
Install all the software’s in one or two days and take snapshot.
By using that snapshot we run ALM UFT, but go to that day. That means change the date in VMware Windows OS. This is required to run permanently ALM with UFT.
How to open UFT and ALM:
1. Open VMware > Go to VM <menu> > Snapshot > Snapshot Manager > see the snapshot date
2. Change the Your Parent System OS date to that snapshot date. (Not in VMware OS)
3. Now again go to VMware > go to VM <menu> > Snapshot > Snapshot Manager > click on required snapshot name (observe the date here)
4. Start up the Windows Server 2008 R2 X64, wait some time to start all the initial services after started Windows Server 2008.
5. Open UFT > click continue <button> > Run any sample program.
6. Open ALM save the TC in ALM. If u wants run the program from ALM run here if u knows.
7. Open ALM and close. Close UFT.
8. Shutdown the Windows Server in VMware.
9. Close the VMware. Like this we can use UFT and ALM with help of VMware.
Note 1: Like this we can use permanently use UFT and ALM in your laptop or desktop systems. Minimum 4GB required, better to use 8GB laptop. Otherwise format the system and install after 30 days. Trail versions use 30 days only without VMware.
Note: Before install the UFT & ALM please read the technical specification documents. Then download that respective latest software’s from internet and install after that.
